Intro
When I was a young girl i grew up in a sort of rough neighborhood. Not as bad as some places but I’ve always been a bit of a runt so everything felt bigger and scarier than it really was. In highschool when we learned wrestling there was only one other girl in my XS weight class. She was a sweetie.
Anyways, being small and being female in a rough area made me grow up fast. It was too easy to get pushed around by all the bigger people so I learned how to be shy. But at home with my friends I would always play video games where the girls with big sticks could defend themselves and their loved ones. That’s because it spoke to me in a way that made more sense then the meek little life I was living.
In the beginning
My dad always taught me to protect others. He was the block watch captain so at in elementary school, even though I was small, I made it my business to protect my friends. I armed them with whistles to blow in case they got in trouble so i could come running. Back then I wasn’t smart enough to run away from big things… nope. I ran straight at them.
And then…
Highschool hit. Most of my best friends had to go to different schools and suddenly my big ego didn’t match my small body and so my courage shrank along with it. But video games still rocked my world. I couldn’t control the external world so I made my own little bubble where I could still be an amazonian warrior.
So suddenly…
Now I’m all grown up… even though I don’t really look it (which is a good trait for a ninja wanna-be). I’ve taken more martial arts classes and I learned that just like in video games it doesn’t matter how big or small you are. Even the small people have useful talents like being faster and more flexible, the better to take down those big clumsy ogres
Just look at the ladies from the show “Firefly”. You have your amazonian kick ass lady, cute techie lady, eccentric martial arts genius and the well studied social lady. All have good traits. And all of them are smart. ![]()
A warning to the wise
That whole “the meek (read as: geek) will inherit the world” thing might have some truth to it. We may be scrawny or weird at first glance but then we grow up… we realize we don’t have to be so afraid of dumb mean people anymore. More sorry for them like we are for puppies who got hurt too many times by a mean master and learned to bite first and trust later. Prey on the geek now and you only make them stronger later

PS here’s some helpful definitions

It is possible be qualify for only one of these titles. But most people are a mix of them. I think i might write a quick test your GND score that can rate you on each these characteristics.
yay over-achieving psych major!
